Week 23 Still in Magdalena but transfers soon

Image
I got to talk to Whitney today!!!! It was super fun! The connection was pretty bad but it worked out. It was nice talking to her and hearing her tell stories about BYU and almost graduating and the dumb dudes in her ward and whatnot....definitely a refreshment I needed! This week was pretty good. We didn't have our branch activity, so we didn't get to watch Coco, but hopefully this week! We had District Conference in Nogales which was cool. On Saturday and Sunday, we got to hear from some local members, Pdte and Hna Myers, and Elder Fernandez of the Seventy.  I don't have a lot of time so I have to keep this short. I told Whit, but I don't think I will be able to talk next week if I get transferred. So stay tuned on both monday and tuesday. Okay I hope you all are having fun at Disney! I'm super jealous! I hope you enjoyed "Mexico" Love you all! Elder Gregory

Week 22 Skype!!!

Image
Well this week was pretty exciting because we found out missionaries could talk to thier families via skype or phone calls or text messages every monday! And also days like Father's Day, birthdays, and other holidays more often! It's cool to see the Church make these changes to technology so missionaries could be more involved with their families in their daily/weekly lives. It will cure a lot of homesickness and boost the morale of many missionaries! I just got done talking to my dad and my sister (and my mom while she was driving home from NC) and it was so great! I can't wait to talk with them more! Spiritual thought: A scripture I love is in the Book of Mormon in Moroni 7:47-48. It talks about the pure love of Christ. Charity is the pure love of Christ. Sometimes it takes a lot of energy, time, or sacrifice. But it's those times when the Lord truly blesses us and the people we serve when we try and love as the Savior did! Have a great week! You're gonna need a bigger boat

Image
I used that quote from Jaws because we are gonna need a bigger "boat" physically, mentally, spiritually for the next few weeks.  Imuris, or the town north of us, had 2 missionaries. One went home this past week, and the other got transferred to Cuidad Obregon. So President Myers told us that Imuris is now our area. So our area is officially the towns of Magdalena, Santa Ana, and now Imuris. About an hour from one end to the other driving. So for 2-3 days out of the week, we will be in Imuris and the other days in Magdalena with plans to try and visit Santa Ana. So I don't know how this is all gonna work out...but the grind never stops! We actually visited Imuris for an afternoon one day because the missionary who left for Obregon said he would leave us references and other info to help us out in our new area....and Shocker! There was nothing! How fun! But he did tell us a couple of people to visit. I also tried looking in the area book, or the book that the ...

Week 20 Now they only say conGRADU(ATED)lations

We were walking past a house the other day and they were blasting Post Malone....oh how I missed Post Malone...so I had to throw in a little tribute to him in the subject... I officially graduated from my missionary training 2 weeks ago! Which means I got a new companion, but I am still here in Magdalena (for at least another 4 weeks) and the grind is still going! I had to say goodbye to my trainer, or my "dad" in missionary terms, Elder Sanchez. He finished his two years and is living life in Chihuahua, MX. So I said hello to my new companion....ELDER SANCHEZ! hahahaha the name Sanchez is like Johnson or Smith in the US, very common. This Elder Sanchez is from San Luis Potosi, MX. He is pretty relaxed and chill. He converted to the church about 2 and a half years ago and used to be in a rock band. They have songs on Spotify and Apple Music. I would tell you the name, but every time I ask him, he says some name that has a million letters and I literally don't un...
