Week 48 Here You Go!

Image
We had a baptism this past week for Johan! It was awesome! His brother was able to do the ordinance and it was a super special experience for everybody. Johan has been attending seminary too so he`s been progressing great! It`s been a good time showing my new companion, Elder Rueda, around the area. He`s super awesome and helpful improve my spanish (and always taking the opportunity to teach me slang). He`s pretty overwhelmed cause it`s a big area, but that`s normal for being new to an area. We are always laughing and joking around but also have been able to teach some awesome lessons and have really brought the Spirit into the homes of many. I`m excited for this transfer! I read Philippians 4:8 in my personal study this past week and it is such a powerful scripture! I encourage you all to read it in the New Testament. It tells us the things we should seek for in our lives because there are so many distractions out there. The scriptures are there to help guide us!  Lov...

Week 47 Fanny Pack Vibes

Image
I got a fanny pack this past week, definitely was a solid purchase. Less stress on the back and shoulders and whatnot, I`m just trying to change the style here in Mexico one fanny pack at a time... Anyways, these past couple weeks have been good. I´m starting to adapt to the weather alright. We were able to see many miracles this past week!  Johan: Johan is this 17 year old homie who has a baptismal date for  the 24th of August . He has been reading the Book of Mormon like crazy! Dude is almost done with the book that we gave him like 2 weeks ago. He comes to church and even signed up for seminary  at 5AM ...this guy is a stud! Nubia: Elder Clayton (from  Boise, Idaho ) and I did a split in my area here in Hermosillo and we were just walking down the street when this 17 year old girl ran up to us and asked us if we were missionaries from la Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los últimos días. Naturally we said yes and later told us she had been looki...

Week 46 Happy 20th bday!!

Image
No letter this week just two phone calls.  No new pics but last week his seminary teacher and our friends for 15 plus years made it down to Mexico and did a quick drop by.  We know it made his day/week/mission!  He looks so happy in every pic.  Just nice to get a taste of home.

Week 45 “not even the Devil vacations in Hermosillo”

Image
The subject line comes from a conversation my companion Elder Edington and I had while we were in the MTC in Mexico City...  The MTC President, Presidente Bennett, approached us one day on our way to class and asked us where we were going to serve our respective missions, and we told him Hermosillo, Mexico. He then proceeded to tell us, "Wow, I heard not even the Devil vacations in Hermosillo because it's so dang hot!" I then laughed about the comment and proceeded on with my young missionary mind and life...not knowing that the very next summer, I would come to fully understand what he meant by that comment. I may have mentioned a few times already....but it's DANG HOT HERE IN SONORA!!! especially Hermosillo, we walk outside in triple degree weather just to have the hot wind blowing on us as we walk everywhere. BUT.....it totally makes a great excuse to enter into people's houses. And we have seen so many blessings from it. We have been able to find so m...
