Week 61 Waiting for Thanksgiving

Image
Nov 25, 2019 Time to FaceTime but no pictures and no written update.  He doesn’t have time but promised he would try and do it on Thanksgiving. Thank goodness! Thanksgiving Update: Nov. 28, 2019 First Elder Tyler Gregory in Mexico got to FaceTime (sort of) with his cousin Elder Evan Gregory in the Philippines! Yay! He also got to talk to his Aunt and Uncle, his sisters and his Grandparents! Things have been going well down here! I'm enjoying my time as District Leader. I get to help out the other missionaries in my district and give them presentations and whatnot on how we can improve as missionaries. It's cool to utilize my leadership skills in a different language! We have experienced BEAUTIFUL weather lately...I'm talking cloudy, rainy, and in the 70's! It's so much easier to do missionary work when the weather is nice...I'm just naturally in a better mood! There's a scripture I read that's short, but sweet. It comes from 2 Corinth...

Week 60 I got nothing

Elder Gregory called while his dad was on another call and Aaron switched over to talk to Elder Gregory and was updating him forever on our lives and we didn’t even know!  We finally got to talk to Tyler and mostly what I heard was all the good stuff. He wanted to talk to his sisters and I sent him an email while I listened in because I only got a few minutes.  His companion was sick while Tyler was in the big city and then he had to go because he is district leader.  Next week hopefully I will have a picture or an email! So good to see him on Skype and hear his familiar voice. Pictures from last week that were not displayed.

Week 59 No Growth in the Comfort Zone

Image
Lemme start this email off with a well-known quote that my old mission president, Presidente Myers, told me (very possible that I have already said it in a previous email) "There's no growth in the comfort zone, and there's no comfort in the growth zone." - Quien sabe...(who knows) I now have the new responsibility of District Leader. I basically have a group of missionaries that I help make sure that they're doing good and I do the baptismal interviews for their people. It's a unique opportunity to lead and I'm pumped! My kid, Elder Sill, is just straight killing it! I love spending my time with him and he is such a good example to me. He brings the Spirit so well in our lessons. He may not speak a lot, but his presence and testimony is felt. I think the members and people think we're a good mesh. I'm excited to be with him for the next 6 weeks! These past few weeks have been full of hard work and miracles! Nothing crazy has happe...

Week 58 No Email

Image
Things are just different now.  He only calls at night and uses the Internet cafe.  We don’t talk long and he doesn’t have a lot to say just wants to see us and see the dogs and chat with his sisters.  He spends his time emailing other missionaries and he has limited time to be in the cafe so he is spread thin.  So so so grateful that the language is no big deal, his companion is great and he is not sick.
