Week 59 No Growth in the Comfort Zone

Lemme start this email off with a well-known quote that my old mission president, Presidente Myers, told me (very possible that I have already said it in a previous email)

"There's no growth in the comfort zone, and there's no comfort in the growth zone." - Quien sabe...(who knows)

I now have the new responsibility of District Leader. I basically have a group of missionaries that I help make sure that they're doing good and I do the baptismal interviews for their people. It's a unique opportunity to lead and I'm pumped!

My kid, Elder Sill, is just straight killing it! I love spending my time with him and he is such a good example to me. He brings the Spirit so well in our lessons. He may not speak a lot, but his presence and testimony is felt. I think the members and people think we're a good mesh. I'm excited to be with him for the next 6 weeks!

These past few weeks have been full of hard work and miracles! Nothing crazy has happened...but it's just a testament that small things really do add up (Alma 37:6-7).

My comp and I fasted (didn't eat or drink for 24 hours in exchange for spiritual/temporal blessings...basically) one day. And lemme tell you...it's a cool 90 degrees here (actually feels super nice in comparison to what it's been) and it's not the easiest thing in the world to go without water and continue doing what we're doing for 24 hours. But...we were able to find SO MANY PEOPLE WHO WANT TO GET BAPTIZED. Like just a ton of people out of nowhere have been really open to the idea that their sins can be cleansed by making covenants with God. It's truly been a blessing.

My

My words literally can not describe the love I have for Mexico and the Mexicans here. Literally think in another life...I'm Mexican. Here are some reasons why...
-basically every time we enter a house, they immediately offer us water and food
-anytime we walk by a taco stand...we get offered free tacos
-people always scream at us saying they pray for us and want us to marry their granddaughters
-people don't react weird when I (jokingly) reply that I'll gladly marry their granddaughter
-everyone is super humble, they tend to open up to us and trust us with what's going on
-the tortillas here in Sonora (in case I haven't mentioned) ARE SO GOOD

Just a few of the many that I can think of off the top of my head. But here's a spiritual thought that comes from the Book of Mormon, it's found in the introduction...

We invite all men everywhere to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if the book is true. Those who pursue this course and ask in faith will gain a testimony of its truth and divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost. (See Moroni 10:3–5.)

Those who gain this divine witness from the Holy Spirit will also come to know by the same power that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, that Joseph Smith is His revelator and prophet in these last days, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s kingdom once again established on the earth, preparatory to the Second Coming of the Messiah.

I don't think there's anything more I can say except I know that it's true. This book has blessed my life in ways I can't describe. I have truly come closer to my Father in Heaven and I know that if you truly take the time, and read and ponder this glorious book, you too can become closer to God and Jesus Christ (members and non-members alike).
