74 Week "I only love my bed and my momma...I'm sorry!!!

Image
This past week was a bit of a rough one....it's not everyday that a missionary gets sick on his mission. It's even worse when you can't leave the house for a few days cause you can't do a whole lot except.....well...recover! But I'm feeling better and we're back on the grind so it's all good! Here's a few things about Caborca that one should know... 1) Imagine that you are in the middle of no where in the desert, and you see a random city....That would be Caborca 2) Caborca is super famous for their world class Asparagus. There's a bunch of farms here and a ton of people work on them. We are in harvesting season right now so it's pretty hectic. 3) In case I haven't mentioned before, it's the straight desert here. So we are always having to be careful with the flying sand and dust that's in the air. 4) People say the best tortillas are from Caborca....they're good don't get me wrong....but all of Sonora will have s...

73 Weeks Ain't nobody got time fo' dat

Image
"Ain't nobody got time fo' dat I got Bronchitis!" Yes friends and family....the extreme desert weather has finally gotten to me...I'm sick with Bronchitis! So I've been out of action these past few days and it's such a bummer! We haven't been able to do a whole lot. At least I've been able to study more and chill in the house and whatnot. So I'll just share a quick spiritual thought! I love Matthew 7:7 in the New Testament, it says... 7 ¶ Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: What a beautiful way to word the power that comes in SEEKING and FINDING. It teaches us that we always have to put in an effort in all things that we may receive the blessings or guidance that we want. I testify that when we seek diligently for the blessings we want, that they shall come! Love you guys! Elder Gregory

Week 72 Crazy Caborca

Image
I think the craziest weather I've experienced here in the mission has been here in the straight desert of Caborca. I'm literally dying of heat in the day and think I'm in the Arctic at night. I'm always bringing a jacket during the day thinking..."Why?! It's so hot right now!" but I'm always grateful for my preparation when it gets close to freezing at night. Which brings me to my spiritual thought about preparation...Doctrine and Covenants 38:30 says... 30 I tell you these things because of your prayers; wherefore, treasure up wisdom in your bosoms, lest the wickedness of men reveal these things unto you by their wickedness, in a manner which shall speak in your ears with a voice louder than that which shall shake the earth; but if ye are prepared ye shall not fear. I love the last part that says "...if ye are prepared ye shall not fear." We need to spiritually fortify ourselves so that we can be prepared for whatever challenge ...

Week 71 "Wake up in the morning feelin' like P-Diddy..."

That's a "Tik Tok" by Ke$ha reference bytheway... Alright I guess there's a "new" app called Tik Tok that's supposedly like Vine that's super popular that I just found out about. Lemme tell you how... Straight to the Top: We had the opportunity to go meet with the Governor of Nacozari and her assistant with our  newly called Branch President to talk about some potential service projects that we wanted to do there, and the Governor chick was super impressed by our willingness to help out the community there. She then asked me what I do and if I spoke Spanish. I kindly replied that I'm a missionary and that I preach the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ, and that I get by with my Spanish. She seemed impressed that my comp and I, just a couple of 20 year olds, have left our families to come to a different country/culture/life and teach others about our Savior. She then started to ask us a bunch of religious questions she had and we whipped ou...
