Week 72 Crazy Caborca

I think the craziest weather I've experienced here in the mission has been here in the straight desert of Caborca. I'm literally dying of heat in the day and think I'm in the Arctic at night. I'm always bringing a jacket during the day thinking..."Why?! It's so hot right now!" but I'm always grateful for my preparation when it gets close to freezing at night.

Which brings me to my spiritual thought about preparation...Doctrine and Covenants 38:30 says...

30 I tell you these things because of your prayers; wherefore, treasure up wisdom in your bosoms, lest the wickedness of men reveal these things unto you by their wickedness, in a manner which shall speak in your ears with a voice louder than that which shall shake the earth; but if ye are prepared ye shall not fear.

I love the last part that says "...if ye are prepared ye shall not fear." We need to spiritually fortify ourselves so that we can be prepared for whatever challenge life throws at us. The more we pray, read the scriptures, attend church, serve others, etc., we are becoming stronger and more prepared for the "crazy desert weather" or difficulties in our lives!

Other than that we have been grinding here in Caborca. My man Elder Oakeson has NO FEAR talking to people and I love it. Even though his spanish isn't perfect yet, I admire his effort and ability to tackle fear right in the face. We are finding many people to teach and were able to confirm a girl this past Sunday. Andamos en la chamba!

Love you guys!
