Week 30 HOT HOT HOT
Well it's getting pretty hot down here....like triple digits every day.....talk about a GRIND! But the weather at night is perfect! So we're doing okay! We also bike about 5-10 miles everyday so basically I should be in the Tour de France within the next few years....
So my new transfer here in Navojoa has been so great! Elder Richards and I have been teaching so many people and we actually had 2 baptisms these past couple weeks. One dude named Manuel and one teenager named Jesús. So hopefully they can continue to flourish in their journey to follow Christ. What a blessing!
A cool story
- we live above our landlord, who is the most loving grandma-ish old lady I have ever met. Her name is Luly and she always calls us "her boys" and always cooks all kinds of baked goodies for us. She is very loving and always helps us. She isn't a member, but loves the missionaries! I had a pretty bad sunburn on my neck this past week (sunscreen is a must here!!) and I was telling her that I had a rough night sleeping with it. I was a little frustrated because none of the pharmacies here sell Aloe!!!! Like YOU CAN'T BE IN A PLACE THAT IS 100 DEGREES EVERYDAY AND NOT SELL ALOE!!!! Luly then went to her garden and got her Aloe plant and cut it open and rubbed it on my neck and it was healed by the next morning. There are truly angels here on earth!
Spiritual experience
- I was on splits with another elder in my zone named Elder Rich. He is super cool and an awesome example of a good missionary to me. We were contacting and we weren't having any luck. We basically were knocking on doors and no one would answer. We were in my area and so I made a decision to leave and try a different part of the city. A thought then came into my head to KEEP GOING. I didn't want to because literally we weren't getting anything and no one was answering their doors. But I decided to follow that prompting from the Spirit and we knocked on a couple more houses when we saw this dude working in his yard. I asked for his name and said it was Gustavo and is 21 years old I went up and offered to help, he respectfully declined but wanted to know what we were . We explained that we were missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ and that we wanted to share a message with him. He then accepted and we taught him about the Plan of Salvation. He loved it and ASKED US if he could come to church. Long story short, he came to church this past Sunday and also brought his dad and they loved it and told us that they would bring their whole family next week.
This experience reminded me of a part of a scripture in the Book of Mormon in Jacob chapter 1 verse 19..."teach them the word of God with all diligence" When we work hard and keeping grinding EVEN WHEN TIMES ARE HARD, God will always bless us for our efforts.
That's all for now! My Spanish has improved so much since I arrived in Navojoa. I am loving the people here more everyday. And I am continuing to lose myself in the work of the Lord.
LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!
Elder Gregory

This makes me so happy!! All of it!
