Week 65 Christmas

Elder Gregory spend this week serving with some Americans.  He helped translate for the eye doctors that were giving free eye exams.

Message from Sister Tucker a member visiting with her family. “We left Nacozari and are headed back to Agua Prieta.  It was so great to meet your son.  He was such a huge help to our group today.  He is an amazing missionary.  I have three sons (18, 16, 14) and he was a great example for them.  Thank you for raising such a great young man.

It was fun to spend the day with him.  He was in Agua Prieta for a zone meeting so we drove him back to Nacozari where we were handing out some food and blankets and coats and other supplies and giving eye exams and glasses to people.  We were so glad to have him there to translate.  His Spanish is amazing!”

This week he talked to his Sister Brinley while we were at Busch Gardens.  The connection was bad and he wasn’t able to talk to anyone else.  I got the above messages on Tuesday and then Christmas was Wednesday and we talked to him again.  He said this service project was a Christmas miracle.  40 referrals from this one activity which means there are 40 people willing to hear his message.  They were very grateful for the service provided.  He will have some time to write next week...maybe.  Always so good to hear his voice.

We read in Luke 22 about Jesus Christ atoning for our sins and suffering all pains, agonies, and heartbreaks for all of humanity in the Garden of Gethsemane. While he is suffering, he says to the Father (or God), "Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done."  Or in other words, Jesus was asking the Father to "remove [the] cup" from him so He could stop feeling the agonizing pain. But, He was willing to endure if it meant He was doing what God needed Him to do. Now I will never feel the pain or agony or heartbreak or any of the things that Christ felt in that Garden, but right now....I feel  what can maybe be considered a fraction of what He felt. As of last night, the church is sending home all foreign missionaries who are serving in Mexico due to Corona Virus concerns. 74 Week "I only love my bed and my momma...I'm sorry!!!

This past week was a bit of a rough one....it's not everyday that a missionary gets sick on his mission. It's even worse when you can't leave the house for a few days cause you can't do a whole lot except.....well...recover! But I'm feeling better and we're back on the grind so it's all good! Here's a few things about Caborca that one should know... 1) Imagine that you are in the middle of no where in the desert, and you see a random city....That would be Caborca 2) Caborca is super famous for their world class Asparagus. There's a bunch of farms here and a ton of people work on them. We are in harvesting season right now so it's pretty hectic. 3) In case I haven't mentioned before, it's the straight desert here. So we are always having to be careful with the flying sand and dust that's in the air. 4) People say the best tortillas are from Caborca....they're good don't get me wrong....but all of Sonora will have s...

75 Elder McGregory is back

What's good?! Just wanted to give a quick update! Elder McGregory: So if y'all remember my good ole days in Magdalena, I was (somewhat) commonly known as Elder McGregory (nicknaming after the boxer/fighter Conor McGregor). Now it has come full circle...allow me to explain... Bobby: One day this random dude calls us up and just says, "Elders, my name is Bobby and I want to get baptized." We stopped whatever we were doing and met up with him immediately. He told us he has taken the lessons for 3 years but had never felt prepared until now. He lives in the area of the sister missionaries, so we passed the reference. It also turns out (oh by the way, this guy is HUGE) that this Bobby dude is the owner of a boxing gym. He always says that we can go to his gym whenever we want.
