Week 68 Larry Bird

For all you basketball fans out there, I hope y'all know what number Larry Legend had on his jersey....I'll give y'all a hint....it's the amount of people we had come to church on Sunday...33!

Elder Sevilla and I have been trying real hard with our church attendance on Sundays here in Nacozari. My first week we had 8 people and yesterday we had 33! We had to find more chairs and bring them into the room so the people could fit! It was awesome!

One of the people who came is this one lady named Rosario. She's a family member of a less active family and has been investigating the church for a while but hasn't ever gone to church! She has the cutest little Mexican kids so Elder Sevilla nad I always have fun playing with them. 

Other than that, the work is a grind here! We get our work cut out for here. We tried visiting this one part of town where we hadn't gone to before and we literally had to wade through a river, hike up this mountain thing, cross 2 bridges, and hitched a ride to the top of one of the biggest hills in Nacozari. I don't think many people can say that they regularly hike on their mission :)

We read in Luke 22 about Jesus Christ atoning for our sins and suffering all pains, agonies, and heartbreaks for all of humanity in the Garden of Gethsemane. While he is suffering, he says to the Father (or God), "Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done."  Or in other words, Jesus was asking the Father to "remove [the] cup" from him so He could stop feeling the agonizing pain. But, He was willing to endure if it meant He was doing what God needed Him to do. 74 Week "I only love my bed and my momma...I'm sorry!!!

This past week was a bit of a rough one....it's not everyday that a missionary gets sick on his mission. It's even worse when you can't leave the house for a few days cause you can't do a whole lot except.....well...recover! But I'm feeling better and we're back on the grind so it's all good! Here's a few things about Caborca that one should know... 1) Imagine that you are in the middle of no where in the desert, and you see a random city....That would be Caborca 2) Caborca is super famous for their world class Asparagus. There's a bunch of farms here and a ton of people work on them. We are in harvesting season right now so it's pretty hectic. 3) In case I haven't mentioned before, it's the straight desert here. So we are always having to be careful with the flying sand and dust that's in the air. 4) People say the best tortillas are from Caborca....they're good don't get me wrong....but all of Sonora will have s...

75 Elder McGregory is back

What's good?! Just wanted to give a quick update! Elder McGregory: So if y'all remember my good ole days in Magdalena, I was (somewhat) commonly known as Elder McGregory (nicknaming after the boxer/fighter Conor McGregor). Now it has come full circle...allow me to explain... Bobby: One day this random dude calls us up and just says, "Elders, my name is Bobby and I want to get baptized." We stopped whatever we were doing and met up with him immediately. He told us he has taken the lessons for 3 years but had never felt prepared until now. He lives in the area of the sister missionaries, so we passed the reference. It also turns out (oh by the way, this guy is HUGE) that this Bobby dude is the owner of a boxing gym. He always says that we can go to his gym whenever we want.
