Week 70 Mamba Mentality

Image
Jan 27, 2020 I can´t call myself a basketball fan and not mention Kobe Bryant and the appreciation I have for him and for what he did for the game of basketball. Thanks for changing the game and the culture of basketball. I´ll forever say your name as I toss something in the trash can. This past week was really awesome! We were in Agua Prieta for almost 3 days for our Zone Conference. It's always super awesome to be spiritually uplifted by our leaders. We talked about the importance of personal revelation and how we can use the guidance we receive to help others come unto Christ. There was a scripture we read from the Book of Mormon in Moroni  10:32  which says... 32 Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the gra...

Week 69 Trash Valley

Image
Buckle up mis amigos! This one is an interesting one... First! My comp and I were just doing our thing teaching and whatnot until one member called us and asked if we could come over right then and help her clean up her Bakery with a bunch of trash that was there. We went and helped clean up a BUNCH of all kinds of trash, from cardboard My LittlePony cutouts to filled to the brim Tequila bottles fresh in the case. After we loaded all of the trash in her truck, she asked if we could help her unload it. Of course we said yes and she took us to this legit cliff where we were to throw the trash off into this valley (hence Trash Valley). And guys lemme tell you...I have never felt more alive, vivacious, or powerful in my life than when I was literally chucking bottles full of alcohol off a cliff and seeing them shatter while wearing a missionary tag...that was a glorious day. A huge apology to my environmental friends (sorry Molly).  ANYWHO! Life has been good the past li...

Week 68 Larry Bird

For all you basketball fans out there, I hope y'all know what number Larry Legend had on his jersey....I'll give y'all a hint....it's the amount of people we had come to church on Sunday...33! Elder Sevilla and I have been trying real hard with our church attendance on Sundays here in Nacozari. My first week we had 8 people and yesterday we had 33! We had to find more chairs and bring them into the room so the people could fit! It was awesome! One of the people who came is this one lady named Rosario. She's a family member of a less active family and has been investigating the church for a while but hasn't ever gone to church! She has the cutest little Mexican kids so Elder Sevilla nad I always have fun playing with them.  Other than that, the work is a grind here! We get our work cut out for here. We tried visiting this one part of town where we hadn't gone to before and we literally had to wade through a river, hike up this mountain thing, cro...

What in the world??? 2020! CRAZY!!! Hope everyone had a good holiday season....now buckle up...cause this is gonna be a good one. First, I wanna give y'all a little about my companion, Elder Sevilla. He's from Chiclayo, Peru and is a convert of 6 years. He's super funny and knows a lot about the Bible. It's pretty funny to see the people we teach sometimes try to argue with us about our knowledge of the scriptures. This man destroys whatever person that tries to attack us...it's pretty exciting! He's a little on the shorter and bigger side, and I'm a little taller and thinner. Some girl called us "Elder Timon and Elder Pumba" from the Lion King....we find that super funny! Well these past few weeks here in Nacozari and Esqueda have been quite the adventure. Here's some awesome things that have been happening... #1 White Christmas!!!  Hahaha nah I don't mean snow....I mean Americans! haha! On Christmas Eve, my companion and I w...
